Asked: Awful hair problem- any tips?

Right, so, I have thin hair (I'm pretty sure), which is dark blond. Not long ago (Late January/Early February), my mother cut it for me. She made 'layers', which were just my hair being shorter closer to my face and longer at the back. She also added a fringe, which she made pretty long (it was coming down the top bit of my eyes, I mean, I could see, but it was nearly covering my vision) because I wanted it to be so. She made 'layers' in my fringe, though, (fringe being thinner and shorter closer to my skin, and thicker and longer on top), which looked pretty weird, but I said nothing of them. My hair grows pretty fast (longest part of fringe goes down to my top lip, shortest part to mid nose), and I asked her to cut the back of my hair so that it was about the same height as my middle layer, and she did. Now- I wear my hair on the side (Like, I part it on the side) even though it is not a side fringe, and it looks really weird. I can't wear it up, because I just don't know how- the shortest side of my fringe can't be tied up, and the longest one hardly can), and I can't wear it down (because of how weird it looks). I'm not the type of person that cares about what others think of them, but I would like to feel good about my appearance once in a while. I have a 'kind of chubby' face (a bit round, but nothing too extreme), and I refuse to wear make-up as I find it a waste of time, even though it would probably help me greatly with my appearance (I have dark circles under my eyes as a result of sleep deprivation, and I have black dots (start of acne), and I tear the skin off of my lips as a habit. I don't really like fringes, but to be honest, I haven't actually ever 'worn' one properly. My mother has always cut my hair, but she's not a professional or anything, and as you may guess, it sometimes (most of the time) ends up badly.
Now- should I go see a hairstylist/haircut person/I forgot the word (Forgive me, it's nearly 4 am here), and ask them to do a fringe or something on me? What would be best for having your hair up, a side fringe or a full fringe? Also, I see girls at school with hair shorter on the outside and longer on the inside, if that makes sense. Are those what layers actually are, and should I get them? Should I be worried about the hair stylist? Should I feel guilty about wanting to go see one rather than my mother? And, finally, can I ask her stylist to do something that she/he thinks would look good on me, or do I have to actually give them a photo or something that I want them to be, and can I talk a bit with them about my hair before, or would they be in a hurry and be annoyed at me?
I'm sorry if some of my questions seem a bit odd. Please help me, though. This is getting to a point where I'm genuinely sad about my appearance.
Thanks in advance.

Hairstylist will do anything you asked them to do, that's their job, and that's why you're paying her for.It doesn't mean they KNOW what is good for you.Everyone have their own opinions, just as I have mine.Layered hair will only make your hair look thinNER.

FOR ROUND FACE:

Examples of celebs with round face: Ginnifer Goodwin, Monique, Ingrid Bergman Roseanne Barr Kate Winslet Natalie Merchant Drew Barrymore Christina Ricci Charlotte Church
Google them and see if you can find how they cut & style their hair, so you have an idea.

You have thin hair? Treat your hair like that of a baby's hair, LOTS OF TLCs. I know you're an adult now with adult hair, but there are symptoms for bleaching, hair straightening, relaxing, crimping hair even to normal hair types. Imagine that happening to your hair, I mean as you've experienced already no product can improve your style. That's another reason why the hair industry is a trillion dollar business, but they do not give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to 'abuse', and hair loss happen more to people with thin or coarse hair. HEAT & CHEMICALS are hair's worst enemies, specially worst for people with thin hair. If it's longer, you can braid them the night before, take the braids out, finger comb, and your hair will be thicker, curlier for days!
Get the right kind of haircut for your hair. The cut should not only be according to your face shape, but also according to your hair quality. If you have really fine hair, a shorter crop with more texture will give the appearance of a fuller head. You can also opt for bangs, as they are a great hairstyle option.

Thick hair comes from your good genes, no hair product can make your hair thicker, even though they said it will, until your next shampoo. It is a trillion dollar business, btw.

But, you can make your hair thicker, see Kris Jenner – Kim's mom, how she does that! She set her top layers of hair in plastic curlers – had been seen working away @ home or office with 6 curlers on. Blow dry. Let them cool. Take the curlers out. Tousle with your hands and you're good to go! Simple! If you're drying your hair: Upside down blow drying. Bend at your waist, turn your head down and blow dry. Straighten up to a voluminous, super full mane!
Myth: You can't make flat, fine hair look full of body.
Truth: Five minutes with a set of large hot rollers will add life to straight hair.

There is no reason to be afraid of a hairstylist! They will understand what you want your hair to look like and also help you find a style that looks best for you. If you want to wear your hair up just get some hair pins that match the color of your hair back until it grows out. If you are just wanting fringe bangs cutyou can do those yourself. There is a ton of videos on Youtubeshowing how to cut certain hairstyles. It would be helpful to you and your mom to watch one before the next trim.
