Asked: how many layers should I have in really long hair?

My hair is already long (to about the bottom of my breasts) and I want to let it grow to the small of my waist in the back. For fun though, I've heard if you have a short layer, you can fake a bob by pinning up the long layers in a bun underneath the bob. How would that work with really long hair? Is that too much of a difference, do they just add a few other layers in between? I want it to look good down but also be able to hide it for a bob.

I have thick hair too, my ponytail is twice as thick as some of my friends.

Oh I love layers! Start your layers at your jaw bone, and you can have many layers from there. The more layers, the less thick as well! You can definitely achieve a bob this way!
Have them use a razor to cut your layers.. They come out beautifully!
