Asked: I am female and I was having excessive hair growth on my chin. I was about 40 pounds over weight.?

I lost about 25 pounds and noticed the hair is not growing as much and my skin is getting smoother with the dieting and exercising. I just want to know if carrying the extra weight is the reason for the chin hair growth or is it hereditary.

it sounds like polycystic ovarian syndrome to me. Both the weight gain and the hair are classic symptoms. See your OB for some bloodwork. If that's the case, it won't go away even if you drop the pounds.

Answered:
overweight caused by increased thyroid levels results in hair growth in females, apart from thyroid issue, being overweight has nothing to do with hair growth.

Answered:
Heredity accounts for about 80% of your physical characteristics. The hair growth and excess weight would be caused by opposing sets of hormones, so they are probably unrelated.
