I need to grow hair faster than usual within a week, since my hair is somehow cut short and a special event is about a week away. Short hair doesn't look quite good with me.

The only thing you can do to make your hair grow "faster" is by having patience and keeping your hair healthy at the length it is. I had the same issue and basically started deep frying my hair with heat tools because of my frustration. Just give your hair time and take care of it by eating right, giving your hair oils, (macadamia oils, olive oil, etc) not shampooing every single day, not styling with heat, etc.
