Asked: Had blonde highlights, died hair brown, now highlights are coming through?

So I have naturally dark brown hair. I got blonde highlights last summer and kept getting them for about eight months. Then my hair got really dry and I got tired of the maintenance so I got a semi permanent brunette dye in my hair in the hairdresserd. That was five months ago and now the highlights are coming through again as the brown dye wears off. I dont want this as soon there will be a visible contrast between my roots and the highlights. My hair is kind of a light brown colour. I want another semi permanent brown dye put in but i am afraid that it will be pointless as the hairdresser said that no matter what i do, the highlights will keep coming through until they have grown out. Any advice?

I bleached and dyed some of my hair last year and it still comes through a little if I'm between dyes. Just keep dyeing your hair if you don't want anyone to see them and let them grow out.

Go to a new hairdresser. First red light was she put a semi permanent over highlighted hair, second saying it will keep coming back. You can cover up highlight but it can be long process. First tell your hairdresser you need it filled, from highlighted hair has been stripped of pigment and to cover it you need to put that pigment back in. Then get it colored. My advice is to go to an Aveda salon or a Regis salon

Hopes this helps! 🙂

That happened to me and my hairdresser said I only had to dye my my hair brown twice and then the highlights wouldn't show but the dye has to be darker than your natural color. It worked for me.
