Asked: how do i grow my hair long / keep it healthy if i use heat ?

okay so i am in 8th grade and im going into 9th this fall. i have been straightening my hair for about 3 years and it is pretty damaged and very dry. it started to break off ALOT, fall out and appear to be shorter. Also ive dyed it about 7 times over these past 3 years (im not going to color/ bleach it again) so just yesterday i cut all the damaged ends off and now it is about a couple inches past my shoulder (exactly to my shoulder when it is naturally curly) and this is the shortest ive had it since about 6 years ago. i dont wash my hair everyday, i wash it about 2-4 times a week because i know about all the essential oils and stuff like that. So after i wash it i let it air dry (i never blow dry) and i straighten it completely before i go to bed. then i do like touch-ups in the morning because i sleep on it. this is basically my hair routine. sometimes after i straighten it i curl it because if i curl my natural hair, it doesn't look right with my roots. I usually don't straighten it over the weekend so i guess my hair gets a break. but this is all before i cut my hair, and just recently ive been using a heat protect spray, so maybe if i were to use that in the beginning i wouldnt be in this crisis lol. so anyway, i was wondering if there was anything i should do to change my routine to grow my hair longer fast ? Also if you could recommend any products like shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer that would be great ! And please don't tell me to just wear it natural, it is completely a mess! i can tell if my hair was longer, my natural hair would look good, but my hair is short. so thats not going to work lol

DON'T wash your hair everyday! Trust me i have long thick silky hair and I know everything there is to know from experience, it drys out your hair, dry hair brakes really easily. If you want to grow out your hair here is every single one of my hair secrets:

– Wash your hair every second day. Only use about as much shampoo as you thumbnail, and use about a handful or two of conditioner and leave it in for as long as you can

– Don't use heat on your hair and if you must do it as little as you possibly can and use lots of heat protector

-never ever ever ever brush your hair when it's wet, ever!! It brakes SO much easier

-after you shower spray in your hair rose water (you make rose water by buying rosemary leaves, get a cup of water, put it in a tea holder and let it sit in there for 30 mins and put in a spray bottle) spray the ros water all over your hair and don't wash it out.

-wash your hair with cold water, hot water is damaging.

-use a bamboo hairbrush. You can get them from bath and body work or a salon if you don't have a bath and body works near you, brush your hair like its fine lace, start at the tip and work your way up.

-every week use a "restoring mask" for your hair, NO don't go buy one of those $30 ones make your own organic one with 1 avocado, 1 egg, 1/3 cup of oil, 1/4 cup of milk.

-before you shower put almond oil in your hair and let it sit for as long as you can. (You can use any oil/cooking oil)

-Never put your hair up, because it breaks the hair soooo easily

-take a multi vitamin, b complex vitamin and omega 3 vitamin every day

-eat healthy

-drink 8 glasses of water everyday

-use 3 drops of almond oil to put in your hair, focus on the tips and avoid the roots or els it will look greasy (put 3 drops of almond oil on your hand, rub your hands together, work it into brushed hair again focus on your tips and avoid the roots (you can use any oil/cooking oil).
Hope I helped ! 🙂 xo

I use this:
Garnier Fructis
Sleek & Shine
Anti-Frizz Serum

You can buy it at Walmart or the Dollar General for about $4 (It smells AMAZING!).

There is also some anti-heat products that you can purchase. You basically just put them in your hair before you straighten it and they prevent damage.
