Asked: How do I lighten my dyed hair without a professional?

I have decided to let my natural hair color grow out because when I go in the sun (which is a lot, i live in florida) it goes from a medium brown color to a beautiful golden blonde. The only problem is I have been dying it dark brown for about 5 years and when THAT color gets in the sun it turns a bright reddish orange color. So Now i have about 3 inches of my natural beautiful color at my roots and then about a foot of the ugly reddish orange color. I would love to get the ombre hair style and just change the reddish orange to blonde and keep my natural color growing. But I did a test strip from a highlighting kit and it came out super super yellow. Like, corn lol so my question is, what is the best way to achieve this look for summer time. And get all the red out at the ends (Preferably not going to a salon if that's possible) and get pretty natural looking beachy sun bleached hair:) THANKYOU!

Color remover will get u to an orange color ( u have built up. Color may need to do colpr remover twice) from an orange base easier to get to blonde…use your bleach if u can get a blue powder lightener that would be good blue helps cut out any orange undertones so u cn getta nice color. . From a non natural red undertone harder to get to blonde..

To naturally lighten your hair, put lemon in it when you are done washing it in the shower. Then go into the sun a little and enjoy yourself. c:
