Asked: I want to dye my hair a light brown?

How do I get the black out? I don’t care if it doesn’t get super light I just don’t want it black or patchy. Im NOT trying to go blonde either, I let my hair grow out for about a year, I know how hard black is to come off.

My hair was almost completely out but my regrowth got on my nerves you can see it was lighter than the bottom, anyway i colored my hair in Dec with a semi permanent black thinking it would wash off like the box suggested after 28 washes.

It’s super black except for the few inches that have grown out. I’ve washed my hair tons of times with dandruff shampoo, clarifying shampoo etc. but the color doesn’t seem to fade away at all. I went to The beauty supply purchased some bleach & the dye. I UNDERSTAND that bleach is hard to work with, would any one recommend bleaching a little prior to applying the dye? some previous experiences or professional opinions accepted 🙂

Im going to do this myself, i went to a recommended stylist about 2 years ago trying to go for the same shade but she was stubborn on getting my hair really light that she burned it off leaving the bleach on my hair for a very long time & still pocketing $200 from me & just covering my hair with dark brown anyway since she left it orange!!! so seeing a professional isn’t an option.

THANKS A BUNCH!! :}

I used to have pink and black hair and i used a bleaching kit by loreal and it brought out the black easily and then i left it a day or two and conditioned it in the shower more than usual and it made it less dry. Then after you dye it brown just keep it well conditioned and it will look healthy and natural 🙂

In order to achieve a lighter color, the black pigment has to be removed. You can do this with bleach or with a product like ColorOops. After the black is removed your hair will be left a hideous gingery color which will have to be covered with your desired color.
If you are really intent on doing this at home, I recommend doing looooots of research first about hair color theory and how hair color works. If you know what you are doing you will get good results. If you don’t know what you are doing you will fail.
